Europe’s Leading Veteran Tree Experts at One Conference in Hungary

It is a rare opportunity to meet some of Europe’s leading arborists and veteran tree experts at a single event. This year, the Hungarian Arboricultural Association (MFE) is organising an international conference where renowned experts in the research, assessment and management of mature and veteran trees will share their knowledge and experience with the Hungarian professional community and attendees from across Europe.

The conference, Battered, Not Beaten — The Wonderful World of Veteran Trees, presents a modern approach to the conservation of veteran trees. Participants will gain insight into international research findings, practical methods and nature conservation approaches that are playing an increasingly important role in arboriculture and, in particular, in the management of veteran trees.

It has become increasingly clear that trees that are several hundred years old represent far more than landscape or cultural value. These trees provide vital habitats and play a key role in supporting biodiversity, while their management requires an approach that differs significantly from conventional tree care practices.

The conference aims to introduce the specialised approach used in the assessment and management of veteran trees, while providing Hungarian professionals with a unique opportunity to gain direct insight into international experience and current professional practices.

Beyond the ecological, social and cultural significance of veteran trees, this year’s HAA conference offers insight into the unique professional framework needed for their expert care and preservation. The event offers exciting new knowledge to arborists, as well as to every professional working in green space management and the broader public interested in trees.

Attendees are eligible for 6 EAC CPD points.
